Offutt Air Force Base Security Campus
Omaha, NE
In 2023, Castle’s Omaha project team began its civil sitework at the Offutt Air Force Base. Home to the Nation’s U.S. Strategic Command headquarters, security and efficient operations are vital to the integrity of the Air Force base. In 2019, following the aftermath of major flood damage to the base, construction planning quickly commenced. By providing essential utilities services for the 55th Wing’s new security campus, Castle directly supported the base’s overarching, $143 million rebuild initiative.
The 55th Wing, a host unit at Offutt Air Force Base, plays a core role in the location’s security and operations. Castle’s scope of work for the unit’s $68 million security campus project included site storm, sanitary, water, and gas utilities as well as site demolition and preparation, SWPPP management, site logistics planning and execution, earthwork, structural excavation, sub-slab and sub-pavement aggregates pipe bedding, and hydro-excavation.
In addition to complying with the military base’s regulations, our field and craft team members prioritized efficiency, innovation, and safety, delivering on a project consisting of 4,500 linear feet of storm line installation, 305,000 square feet of sub-grade prep and sub-base installation, and zero injuries.
