Nelson Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvement
Johnson County, MO
Castle is performing essential earthwork, civil piping, and yard piping as part of a $14 million improvement project with McCarthy for the Nelson Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) in Johnson County, KS. Johnson County Wastewater (JWC) has initiated a multi-stage improvement plan—addressing facility’s existing technology that is nearing the end of its functional lifecycle, establishing measures to comply with new regulatory requirements, and enhancing the facility’s capacity for growth.
The wastewater treatment facility encompasses primary and secondary treatment plants, Turkey Creek and Mission Main. The parties involved in the project expect that final the upgrades, including new chemical treatment and filtration functions at Turkey Creek will bolster the primary plant’s wastewater processing capabilities, rendering the Mission Main plant unnecessary and viable for demolition.
